​Pubs must achieve consistently high ratings on the CAMRA Beer Scoring via What Pub to be considered. CAMRA then rank the candidates to select a winner. Those scoring amongst the highest total number of votes automatically win inclusion in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide.
​Since joining CAMRA, The Happy Man has won this highly prestigious award on three occasions, in 2008, 2013 and 2015.
