We sell real ale, not “craft” beer - bullshit bingo lingo of the men in suits - a term for expensive keg beer. No Fuller’s, Greene King or Doom Bar, though I’m quite partial to the latter’s Atlantic and Cornish Coaster. Which is why The Happy Man has been in the Good Beer Guide since 2007.
The Happy Man favours local breweries, though ales travel from as far afield as Cornwall, Kent, Lancashire, Scotland and Wales. Summer Lightning is served throughout the year, with three guest beers in rotation.
Yes, we serve the obligatory pseudo-Australian piss-water and Guinness alongside Moretti, Kozel and wife-beater. Aspall, Old Rosie and Symonds sate the desire of the park benchers.
But it’s really all about the ale, so come and join us at our next beer festival.
Don't forget, if you're a CAMRA member, we give you a discount on your pint Monday to Thursday!
The Happy Man, slaking the communal thirst for a century or more...
